Summary/objective
The Fuel System Designer will be responsible for leading CEG’s Fueling Design team and preparing construction plans for fuel storage tank installation projects using designs and AutoCAD drafting. The position will need to understand the client’s project needs, applicable specifications/codes (including UFC 3-460-01) to comply with project parameters, and agency requirements to prepare project deliverables. The Fuel System Designer will also assist in the preparation SPCC Plans for CEG’s existing clients. Projects are primarily located at Department of Defense installations in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

- Use AutoCAD to produce construction plans and assist in the design of fueling systems.
- Work at the direction of the Project Manager to complete design requirements.
- Assist with Preparing project schedules/project cost estimates that meet project requirements.
- Adhere to project schedules and deliverable deadlines that meet internal and external project schedules
- Prepare construction specifications as required
- Coordinate with client to establish tank system design requirements; coordinate with cities, counties, and other agencies to advance projects.
- Coordinate design and submittals with project subconsultants; review and follow timeliness, submittal processes, and fees.
- Perform SPCC inspections, or direct others to perform inspections; prepare and certify SPCC Plans, or review and certify plans prepared by others.

Travel required
Mostly when conducting inspections, <10% of the time.
CEG works in many different locations, so a willingness to travel is important.
Required education and experience
- B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the preparation & design of fueling systems.
- Thorough understanding of the UFC 3-460-01
- Experience coordinating and communicating with local, state, federal, and Client in the preparation of designs.
- Experience in the preparation of Submittal Packages.
- Candidate should be self-motivated, product driven, and able to collaborate with the team to meet project and client deadlines and project budgets.
- Current knowledge and familiarity with AutoCAD based products.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills; excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred education and experience
- Certifications and credentials (PE or EIT).
- Familiarity with fuel design systems, pumps, valves, site layouts, and components.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
You must be able to pass security clearance requirements to work at a DOD facility.
